Cub and Boy Scouts

Webelo Scout "Cast Iron Chef" Belt Loop

We now offer a merit badge program for Cub Scouts. Here is what they learn:

-Scout will prepare a Cowboy Dinner (Ground beef, carrot, onions and potatoes wrapped in foil) and Campfire Biscuits with Honey Butter in class. They will learn kitchen safety and knife skills.

-Scout will use the Cowboy Dinner recipe to develop a budget in class. They will also use this to complete the purchasing and cost section. 

-Scouts will eat what they make in class.

 

Sections 1 & 2 on the worksheet will be completed in this program. Section 3 is not covered in class. 

 

- Class B uniforms are fine during this event.

- Please bring a copy of the worksheet and a pencil to class.

Cost

$400 for first 10 scouts/ $40 for each additional with a max of 14 Scouts

Class is 2 hours long

*Does not include the belt loop

If the troop is not able to meet the minimum requirement, siblings and friends are welcome to join

All events have 2 Chef instructors.

Events with more than 18 Scouts WILL have an additional $75 charge for an extra Chef instructor.

Boy Scout Cooking Merit Badge

Our Boy scout cooking class offers recipes that can be recreated in a campfire environment. The scouts will fulfill the following requirements for a cooking merit badge, others must be done by the troop at the meetings. 

We are an official Cooking Badge Counselor and can sign the blue cards for each scout that attends the event in good faith that the scouts will fulfill all the requirements.

3 a.-3 c.

Cooking page 10 b and c Cooking page 26 g and h 7 pages 32-33

         

Here is what is not covered:

4. Cooking at home

5. Camp Cooking

6. Trail and backpacking meals.

In class, we will do about 45 minutes of cooking- Campfire potatoes and Campfire Biscuits with Honey Butter that can be also be done in a camping environment.

 

We cover kitchen safety, knife skills, plus basic cooking techniques. We will then go through the book step by step, covering the above sections.
